What services should I get for my vehicle on a regular basis?
Q. I recently got my oil changed and they were offering many other services, such as cleaning the fuel injectors, etc. I would like to know which services do I actually need to get and how frequently do they need to be preformed? Also, if you happen to know approximately how much these services should cost, that would be great too. My car is only 2006, if that matters. Thank you!

A. Inside your glove box is a owners manual. All the necessary services are outlined in that book to keep your car maintained and warranty in effect. One must look at a modern engine as a giant air pump. so lubrication is key to keeping parts from wearing out to fast. Oil changes air filters quality gasoline and manufactures recommended service items like transmission drain and fills differential oil changes (timing belts) if equip. Most modern cars not have non serviceable wheel bearings but the brake pads wear down and rotors need resurfacing or replacing when worn thin. Tires on modern cars last 30,000 to 60,000 miles. What kinds of goods or services would a freelancer or independent consultant provide?
Q. Normally, they are defined as people who may or may not actually have an official business but they still are self employed. Meaning that they provide their services or goods to the general public.I am thinking of Mary Kay, cleaning services, possibly, computer consultants, translators I guess. Anyone have any ideas or insights on what freelancers or ic do beside the obvious that the general public might know about?

A. I am an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, I always like to call my customers and see how they been and offer them specials or see if they need anything at the time. You are not required to go up to people you don't know if you don't want. It is only a plus. I don't do that, I get my customers through people I know and people my customers know. How is custody determined when social services takes the kids?
Q. A woman I know of is most likely going to lose her kids due to abuse. Kentucky social services is talking about giving "indefinate" custody to one of the kids' (divorced) grandparents or other relatives like an aunt or uncle. How will they determine who will get the children? Living conditions, location (as in how close to the mother), financial stability, etc? Can an unmarried, heterosexual, financially stable couple ask for custody? How much will small-town politics help someone who doesn't deserve the kids gain custody? If custody is granted to someone and they move in with the mother, will social services re-take the kids? **Anything** you can tell me related to the above would be appreciated, especially if you can provide links.

A. The best interests doctrine will always come into play. Before the custodial rights can be permanently terminated, the courts have to get involved. At that time, the judge, in conjunction with Protective Services, will evaluate the parents -- and determine if, in fact, abuse did occur. . . what type and how severe that abuse was . . . as well as who the perpetrator was. They'll determine which of the parents (if either) are more apropriate to care for the children -- mentally, physically, financially.
